TINTAGEL have confirmed the re-signing of all-rounder Ryan Pooley from Werrington for their 2025 Cornwall Cricket League campaign.

The hard-hitting batsman and pace bowler left Butts Field for a shot at top-flight cricket with his childhood club, but has made the move back to the Knights who will play in Division Three East having suffered relegation last term.

Pooley, who started his adult career at Delabole before two spells at Tintagel and a short stint at St Minver, should plunder plenty of runs in the middle-order and bowl his brisk seamers when needed.

They have also confirmed that Australian seamer Jack Minehan will be their overseas player to replace West Indian Akobe Earle.

Minehan, who plays for Snug CC in Tasmania and is a paceman and a lower order batsman, will be expected to help propel them towards promotion.

One loss is that outgoing chairman Simon Fry has departed following 11 years at the club.

Skipper Matt Jolliffe told the Post: “I’m delighted to have Ryan back with us, his all-round ability will improve us massively.

“It was also important to get another overseas and Jack will open the bowling for us and bat in the lower order.

“On the departures front, there is only one so far and that is Simon Fry who has stepped down as chairman and chosen to go to Callington to coach the youth and for a new challenge.”

Jolliffe expects a challenging season, which will be preceded by a friendly Tri T20 tournament on Saturday, April 27 at Wadebridge where they will tackle the home club’s seconds and Lanhydrock.

He said: “I think Division Three will be a reasonable standard with the likes of us, South Petherwin, Menheniot-Looe and Ladock all coming down, so we will see how we get on in what should be a pretty competitive division!”
