HOLSWORTHY Cricket Club have announced that Australian all-rounder Noah Pigdon will be their overseas player for their 2025 Cornwall Cricket League Division Two East campaign.

The 19-year-old who comes from Geelong in Victoria, plays for Leopold CC.

He is set to line up in the middle order and send down nine overs of off-spin each week as the Trees look to replace South African Herschelle Poggenpoel who was a huge success with both bat and ball across two summers.

First team captain Ryan Walter told the Post: “We are looking forward to welcoming Noah to Stanhope Park this year and hopefully he can hit the ground running on the field.

“He is also a qualified coach which is important for us, so we will look to utilise that within all of our teams.”

He continued: “It’s also great to have three spin options with Noah, Graham (Wild) and Aiden (Gerry) as I think having decent spinners is crucial in this league, and him slotting into the middle-order will be perfect for us as we approach the season.”

Walter knows the goal will be survival after several years of continued progress.

He has also seen all-rounder Jack Greening who opened the batting and bowling depart to Callington, while left-arm seamer Rob Mitchell has moved to St Austell.

But while it maybe a struggle in the short-term, the club’s promising band of youngsters could flourish, adding: “There’s a group of four who have been together since they were 12 or 13 in Adam Lovejoy, Dan Lucas, Rory Piper and Lewis Chidley, and there’s also Will Priest who although a bit older, can be very good on his day.

“We’re under no illusions it’s going to be a much tougher season, but it’s time to give these boys a chance and I know our experienced players can lead from the front at this level!”
