North Cornwall Table Tennis League latest round-up
WITH Division One leaders Budehaven A and North Hill A not in action, Bridgerule A missed the chance to close the gap at the top as they were held to a 5-5 draw at Budehaven B.
However, considering Bridgerule played with just two – David Streak and David Stone – the result could have been far worse.
Streak continued his impressive recent form by winning all three.
While he eased to victories over Nathan Jukes and Jeremy Skelton, he was forced to come from two sets to one down to defeat David Ewen.
With Stone seeing off Skelton 11-9 in the decider having been two sets up, and the doubles going the visitors’ way in four, they took a point.
That was the only match in the division as Budehaven A versus North Hill B had been rearranged, while Crackington A against Stratton was postponed.
Three of the four scheduled matches in Division Two took place, including a first defeat in more than two seasons for North Hill C.
They were beaten 6-4 by visiting Crackington B who were led by Judith Cook’s treble.
And with solid support coming from James Ellis (2) and Robin Evans, victory was theirs.
North Hill’s points came via Ryan Taylor (2), Trevor Luckhurst and the doubles.
Leaders Blisland earned a 6-4 success at Altarnun A.
Chris Baverstock led the way with three victories as Stephen Parsons (2) and Simon Patterson also contributed.
Dave Jones won two for the hosts, while Jamie Sims and the doubles also helped.
Bridgerule B enjoyed the biggest win of the week; 7-3 at Budehaven D.
Jay Brewer was player of the match with a hat-trick, while the other points came via Barry Stearman (2), Shaun Collins and the doubles.
Youngster Louis Konowalik won twice for Budehaven, while David Shadrick beat Collins.
