WEST HOCKEY LEAGUE WOMEN’S TRELAWNEY DIVISION ONE
Bude 8 Plymouth Lions Thirds 0
THE Seasiders delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, securing an 8-0 victory over Plymouth Lions Thirds.
From the outset, Bude dictated the tempo, maintaining most of the possession throughout the first half.
Chloe Hall opened the scoring early on, finding herself in the perfect position at the post to calmly slot the ball past the Plymouth keeper.
Bude’s attacking pressure continued to build, and not long after, Charlotte Prime found her rhythm, skillfully weaving past several defenders before finishing confidently.
She soon doubled her tally, extending Bude’s lead to 3-0, before the impressive Izzy Wickett further added to Bude’s growing lead with a clinical finish after receiving a well-placed pass across the D from Katie Jackson.
Bude’s dominance didn't wane going into the second half with Prime scoring another to complete her hat-trick.
They continued to showcase clinical finishing, this time by Evie Varcoe scoring the 6th goal of the game from the middle of the D.
Every player contributed to the impressive performance, with excellent build-up play in midfield, especially with slick one-two passing between Phoebe Gannon, Mia Flynn and Izzy Sobey which led to another goal by Hall.
Bude remained in control and Plymouth Lions struggled to break down Bude’s defence. Especially from Naomi Harris and Hannah Maloney who made some great tackles as well as making some excellent drives up the pitch.
Willow Du Plessis had an excellent performance out on the right, earning her man of the match with some confident tackles and passes up the line, while the rarely worked Jo Timmins enjoyed a nice quiet afternoon.
The final goal was scored by Caroline Hockridge with a strike from the top of the D.
The ladies would like to thank Kirsty Heslop for sponsoring the game.
