WEST HOCKEY LEAGUE WOMEN’S TRELAWNEY DIVISION ONE

Caradon Thirds 3 Bude 2

TAMMY Snowsill scored twice on her return to the side, but Bude were beaten 3-2 at Lux Park in this rearranged fixture.

The clash was called off due to Storm Darragh back in December, and alongside Snowsill’s return, Briony Varcoe was also back in the squad as they both added their quality to proceedings.

Bude started the brighter of the two sides, knocking the ball around well despite not having played since November 30, and although they made a couple of errors, did hit the post twice as well as sending a shot just wide.

They did take the lead when Snowsill converted following a short corner, but that seemed to rally Caradon who equalised when Abi Larigo played in Jo Maudsley on the edge of the box who sidestepped Jo Timmins and rolled the ball in.

They took that momentum into the restart and soon got an early goal from a Rach Luiten short corner.

But Bude, despite needing some fine saves from player of the Timmins and some good defending, equalised when Snowsill grabbed her second.

But Caradon kept on going and Luiten got her second with a reverse flick after the initial shot was saved.

The Seasiders pushed hard for a late leveller, but to no avail as they headed home without anything to show for a decent display.

Bude are on their travels again this Saturday as they go to Bodmin Seconds for an early 9.15am push back.

Bude’s men continue their promotion push on January 18 when they welcome Tavistock in Men’s Piran Division One (1pm).

Bude squad: Jo Timmins; Izzy Sobey, Willow Du Plessis, Caroline Hockridge, Mia Flynn, Katie Jackson, Phoebe Gannon (capt), Charlotte Prime, Naomi Hatcher, Briony Varcoe, Tammy Snowsill, EV Varcoe, EJ Biggadike.
