THE owner of one of Launceston’s popular takeaway restaurants has announced their takeover of another of the town’s longstanding spots.

Ali, who currently owns kebab and pizza house, Pizza Time, has announced that he will be taking over the Launceston Fryers fish and chip shop and restaurant.

Many residents were sad to see Launceston Fryers, which is based on Westgate Street in the town, close its doors.

However, with a new owner, residents will be pleased to see its reopening.

In the announcement, Ali said: “As you may have heard, we’ve bought the old Launceston Fryers chippy. It’s been around for a long time, we’re keeping it as a fish and chip restaurant and takeaway, it’s a Launceston staple, an institution! So we thought we’d ask you all, shall we keep the name Launceston Fryers?”
