A MUCH-loved teacher from Launceston has been thanked for her service as she retires after 33 years at the school.

Windmill Hill Academy has paid tribute to Mrs Amanda Zoffman, who after 33 years is leaving the school to retire.

First starting on a temporary contract as a teaching assistant, Mrs Zoffman has left a lasting impact on all who she has worked with during her three decades at the school.

However last week, the school bid her farewell. To mark the occasion, an assembly with the whole school was held.

Each class presented her with a class card and she was showered with gifts from the staff. A special poem was then read out which had been written by the school, with pupils collectively contributing their ideas.

Abby Bassett, head of school, explained: “It was lovely to see so many past and current pupils, parents, staff members, governors and members of the local community.

“Mrs Zoffman started at Windmill Hill Academy 33 years ago. First of all, she started working 1:1 will children and then moved onto working in the school office as a school secretary.

“She has demonstrated great dedication over the years and has had a very positive impact on all of us. Not only our current pupils and staff, but previous ones too - which probably includes some of our student’s parents!

“We all say a huge thank you to Mrs Zoffman and we wish her well for her retirement. We will all thoroughly miss her!”
