THE Seasiders were made to pay for a slow start as Wadebridge Town ran out comfortable 3-1 winners at Broadclose Park.

Bude had beaten Truro City Reserves and Bodmin Town at home in recent weeks, but fell behind 23 minutes in when a cut-back from the left was met by James Hamson who saw his shot sneak in at the near post despite a hand from Ty Rowe.

The Bridgers, who included Harry Hopcroft in their line-up, although brother Billy was away for the weekend, then doubled their advantage four minutes later as a ball over the top was met by Jacob Smale who found the far corner.

Bude matched the visitors up at the break with a 5-3-2 formation and it helped no end.

All five subs – Ruan Tape, George Pawley, Harrison Swatton, Maximus Alvarez-Lopa and Harry Dymond – were introduced by the hour – the first three at half-time.

On 58 minutes they were back in it as although Rob Rosevear made a brilliant save to deny Alvarez-Lopa from Tape’s cut-back, Steve Box was on hand to lash in the rebound.

Bude were much more competitive and confident, pressurising Wadebridge and forcing many corners and free kicks.

Another opportunity fell to the lively Alvarez-Lopa, who surged forward and found his shot beaten out by Rosevear low down at the near post.

But a moment of brilliance from defender Brad Rowe in injury-time settled the contest.

Rowe launched a ball down field and it fell straight down to his namesake who smashed it home from 60 yards.
