THE fourth race of the 2024/25 Cornwall Multi-Terrain Race Series – the Tywarnhayle 10K – was held on Sunday, October 6.

The event, which was in its third year and is organised by Truro Running Club, is based at Mount Hawke and Porthtowan Cricket Club while the route sees competitors take in some of the coast path around Chapel Porth and back towards Porthtowan before before a loop around Tywarnhayle mine.

The event, which had a full quota of 210 runners, was won by Falmouth Running Club’s Ed Dickinson in a time of 41:01, seven seconds ahead of home favourite Steve Reynolds with another Truro competitor, Tim Van Berkel, in third (44:14). The ladies’ race was won by Truro Running Club’s Anna Harrold.

Members from both Launceston Road Runners and Bude RATs made the trip west.

Bude saw Morgan Craig, Antony Jarvis and Stephen Hutchinson all finish second in their respective age groups.

Bude RATs’ times: Morgan Craig – 45:28 and second in the M45-49 age group; Antony Jarvis – 47:45 and second in M50-54 age group; Jeremy Brown – 53:32; James Dean (58:31); Craig Harper – 1:01:31; Stephen Hutchinson – 1:07:22 and second in the M70-74 age group.

Launceston Road Runners times: Joe Thomson – 48:58; Ian Grimes – 1:15:34; Linda Pickard – 1:20:17.

There was also the presentation of trophies from last year’s nine-race Multi-Terrain Race Series with Jarvis taking first in the M50-54 age group and Hutchinson second in the M70-74 section.

There were also prizes awarded to Suzanne Brown, Antony Jarvis, Jeremy Brown and Stephen Hutchinson for completing the qualifying six races.

The next event in the 2024/25 Cornwall Multi-Terrain Race Series calendar is the Rosemullion 10K which is taking place on Sunday, October 27.
