BUDE have made just one alteration from last weekend’s vital victory over Wiveliscombe for Saturday’s crunch clash with Tavistock in Counties One Western West (2.30pm).
The Seasiders hadn’t won since late October to slip to within three points of the bottom two, but a superb performance helped by the visitors’ indiscipline helped them race into a 33-7 lead by the hour.
The Somerset outfit did respond with 19 unanswered points to take two bonus points home with them, but for Bude they moved eight points clear of second bottom where Tavi currently reside.
And with fellow strugglers Penryn to come to North Cornwall next Saturday, Bude know a brace of victories will go a long way to confirming another season at Step Seven.
Joint head coaches Simon Jeffery and Joe Wilson have to do without prop Fraser Martyn with his place going to Chris Allin who has been on the bench in recent weeks.
Versatile back Ryan Butler comes onto the replacements alongside Harvey Cholwill and Lewis Jones.
Tavi arrive at Bencoolen Meadow off the back of a 64-0 home defeat to new leaders Pirates Amateurs, but did beat St Ives 16-15 the week before.
The Devonians lost a number of key players over the summer and have suffered some heavy defeats along with a lengthy injury list.
But if they turn up with a near full-strength team then Bude will need to be on their game.
Both the seconds and ladies have the weekend off.
