BUDE and North Cornwall Golf Club’s ladies Annodata team will compete in The Kyocera Golf Classic in Spain next week.

The team reached the same stage back in 2018 and won the competition which is the most challenging team event for clubs across the country.

The 2024 competition featured 400 ladies’ teams and 380 in the men’s.

Bude defeated across seven rounds a number of Cornwall and Devon-based clubs – The Point of Polzeath, St Mellion, Boringdon, Stover and St Enodoc – before seeing off Ferndown (Dorset) and Cranleigh (Surrey) in the regional qualifiers.

They will test themselves against the UK’s best across two days on March 5 and 6 at Montecastillo Golf Club which is in the south of the country just outside of Jerez de la Frontera.

They will be battling it out for the place in the final against Northamptonshire County, Bradford and Dartford.

Reflecting on their run so far and looking forward to the event, team captain Hana Dabrowski told the Post: “We’ve been through some tough matches and to get to the Grand Finals is very well-deserved bonus.

“I believe in my team, we’ve been trying with patience and passion for this competition and to get to Spain means our dream came true!

“We are all very proud to represent our club and are ready and very excited to take on this next challenge.”

Bude will be represented by Collette Burgess, Hana Dabrowski, Kay Dinsdale, Mandy Congdon and Jo Tilbury, plus caddies Judith Smith, Jean Reed, Chris Simmons, Maggie Hooper, Jenny Perkins and Kathy Cheeseman the team mascot, Dave Simmons. Deanna Barnard and Roz Clarke have also represented the team in the earlier rounds.

Hana added: “Everybody in the team would like to thank The Beach Hotel and Bude and North Cornwall Golf Club for sponsoring our team gear.”
