North Devon Football League round-up – Saturday, April 5

BEN Sharpe scored twice as Holsworthy Reserves gave themselves a chance of finishing third in the Premier Division after edging a seven-goal thriller at Shamwickshire Rovers.

The Magpies have had an inconsistent campaign but have come good in recent weeks and recorded their third successive victory in North Devon.

Will Harris and Jacob Nosworthy were also on the scoresheet for Adam Wosnitzka’s side.

Morwenstow fell a further point behind third-placed Woolsery in the Senior Division following a 3-1 reversal at the hands of Fremington Reserves.

Corrick Davies had scored for the Greens to make it 1-1 at half-time, but Fremington added two more after the break.

Woolsery recorded a 1-1 draw at High Bickington to move four points ahead with five games remaining.

Shebbear United’s fading promotion hopes took a blow as visiting Bideford Reserves ran out 1-0 winners.

Sheb sit nine points adrift of Woolsery having played a game more.

Bradworthy’s promotion charge hit a roadblock as they were beaten 2-0 at leaders Shamwickshire Rovers Reserves.

Bradworthy visited the Sham Siro just two points behind third-placed Georgeham and Croyde Rovers, but that was extended to five after they saw off Hartland Reserves 5-1.

However, Bradworthy do have two games in-hand.

That said, Putford, Kingsley Park and Combe Martin are in between them making the race for third an intriguing one.

Holsworthy Thirds had a tough afternoon as they were thrashed 10-0 by their Braunton counterparts in North Devon, while Morwenstow Reserves and Putford had the day off.
