TINTAGEL Cricket Club recently held their annual end-of-season dinner at The Crossbow Cafe and Grill in the village.
The evening saw the Knights enjoy exceptional hospitality, delicious food, and excellent service for they would like to offer their thanks, while the evening featured a raffle and music from DJ Ferg.
On the field was a mixed time of it.
The first team, who lost key all-rounder Ryan Pooley before the start of the season to Werrington, struggled for victories in Division Two East and ended up second bottom with just one win to their name all season.
With four teams relegated as the Cornwall Cricket League moves to ten-team leagues, they will hope to rebuild in the league below.
The seconds finished second in Division Six East under captain Dave Lane with 13 wins and just three defeats from their 16 completed matches. Two were cancelled.
The winners of the respective awards for each team were as follows, while the coveted Clubperson of the Year award went to Caroline Fry.
First Team: Batsman – Tom Parsons; Fielder – Sam Abbott; Bowler – Jordan Blanchard; Player of the Year – Tom Parsons; Second Team: Batsman – Joe Parsons; Fielder – Ben Jarram; Bowler – Dave Lane; Young Player and Player of the Year – Rocco Reynolds; Most Improved – Ollie Ansell.
The annual general meeting was also held last month with the majority of the officers remaining the same, including Matt Jolliffe and Dave Lane as the respective captains.
Other officers re-elected were: Chairman – Simon Fry; Vice-Chairman – Sam Abbott; Treasurer – Caroline Fry; Secretary – Steve Brown.
A club spokesperson said: “A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the club this year, it really is appreciated by all of us who work hard for the club. We eagerly await the next season!”
