COUNTIES THREE CORNWALL (SATURDAY)

Launceston Castles 45 St Agnes 0

RICHARD Jasper scored 18 points as Launceston Castles comfortably won the battle of the unbeaten sides at Polson Bridge.

The Castles had won at Roseland, had been handed a walkover by Lankelly-Fowey and eased past Truro Seconds 71-7, while the visitors also had a perfect record.

But Launceston, who are keen to push for promotion, showed they should be towards the top end come the spring as they dominated throughout.

They scored within two minutes when fly-half Adam Collings finished off a driving maul after his superb kick earned the Castles a 50/22.

It was 12-0 when Jasper converted his own try after several phases, while the third try before the break arrived when winger Dale Johnson scored in the corner (17-0).

St Agnes needed the next score to have any chance, but it was the hosts that got the next one five minutes after the break via a penalty try.

The home side then emptied the bench to give some of their recently graduated Colts some game time, and although St Agnes had a couple of exertions in the Launceston 22, they could not break through.

Launceston then went back on the offensive and scored again through centre Mark Knight, Jasper again and back-rower Pete Bebbington to wrap up a good day’s work ahead of their week off.
