North Cornwall Table Tennis League latest round-up 

BUDEHAVEN A showed that they could make it a three-way title race in Division One after overcoming Bridgerule A 7-3 at the Budehaven Sports Hall.

The hosts got off to a perfect start as David Sillifant shocked David Streak in the decider, winning four straight points from 10-8 down, before Alistair Prades and Aleks Worth saw off David Stone and Helen Johns.

It became 5-0 which included Sillifant saving a match point against Johns, but Bridgerule got on the board when Stone saw off Worth in straight ends.

Bridgerule took the doubles to make it 5-2, but the home side won two of the three remaining singles with Sillifant and man of the match Prades earning trebles.

Champions North Hill A whitewashed their B team at North Hill Village Hall.

Three of the games went to the final set, but in the end the trio of Iain Oxenham, Shirley Luckhurst and Tau Manonge prevailed.

Stratton and Budehaven B saw their clash postponed a week.

Four matches took place in Division Two, with double-headers at Altarnun and Budehaven.

Altarnun A entertained champions North Hill B with the visitors winning 7-3.

Trevor Luckhurst led the way with a treble while points also came via Ryan Taylor (2), Karen Horrell and the doubles.

The home trio of Dave Jones, Jamie Sims and Geoff Hale each won once.

Across the hall, Bridgerule B left with a 7-3 success.

Altarnun’s Paul Burden was unbeaten in the singles, but Alan Quilter, Shaun Collins and Barry Stearman prevailed elsewhere.

Ezra Jukes and Keith McGarry secured doubles as Budehaven C beat Blisland 6-4 despite Chris Baverstock’s treble, while Crackington B were 7-3 winners against Budehaven D.

Dave Shadrick (2) and Louis Konowalik got the home points but Crackington’s came via Judith Cook (3), Robin Evans (2), James Ellis and the doubles.
