BUDE Croquet Club’s golf croquet summer tournament concluded recently with Val Langdon winning the day’s play, giving her an overall fifth place finish.
The series consisted of 12 tournaments, twice monthly, and had begun on April 9, with a win for Andy Middleton, last year’s winner.
Despite work commitments preventing him from competing regularly, he still achieved a respectable sixth place.
The main contenders, however, were Tim Benson, Chris Ham and Dave Langdown, who were never more than a few points apart.
After the final round, Tim headed the table on 17 points, one ahead of Chris and three ahead of Dave. He is pictured receiving the trophy from the chairman, Chris Ham.
Thanks are due to Martin French for organising and managing a very enjoyable and close run tournament which saw nine different players gaining a first place, testimony to the ever improving level of play within the club.
