BUDE Sea Pool has expressed its thanks to all the volunteers who help keep the much-loved site running.

Last week, Bude Sea Pool held its annual volunteer appreciation event, hosted by Rosie's Kitchen, to honor the dedicated volunteers who help keep the pool running smoothly year-round. The event offered an opportunity for the volunteers to gather, enjoy a delicious lunch and cake, and share stories with fellow team members.

A highlight of the day was a special talk given by volunteer John, who recounted his epic, self-supported walk from John O'Groats to Land's End earlier in the year. John's remarkable journey raised funds for the Friends of Bude Sea Pool charity, and he gave attendees a captivating insight into the adventure and the challenges he faced along the way.

In addition to the talk, volunteers were treated to a raffle with a number of prizes, adding a fun element to the celebratory atmosphere.

Julie Barlow, Volunteer Manager for Friends of Bude Sea Pool (FoBSP), expressed her gratitude, stating: "We are so incredibly lucky to have such a large team of volunteers who put in countless hours between them – all playing a part in the maintenance and upkeep of the pool and raising the funds to keep it open and free for everyone to enjoy. Events like this are so important, as they allow us to show our appreciation and remind our volunteers how truly amazing they are!"

A spokesperson from Bude Sea Pool added: “Bude Sea Pool’s volunteers contribute in numerous essential roles year-round, including serving as trustees and committee members, participating in winter maintenance, selling merchandise, providing event refreshments, and much more.

“Their hard work and commitment are vital, and we really couldn’t do it without them. It was fantastic to gather so many of them together and say a huge, heartfelt thank you for everything they do!
