HELPING teach vital skills to the people of Holsworthy, the town council held a ‘Defibrillator Awareness Session’ in the Memorial Hall on Thursday, April 6.
South West Ambulance Service members led the session.
They demonstrated to those present how to use the new pieces of equipment, that have recently been installed around the town.
They also gave those present the opportunity to try out the defibrillators on a test dummy and practice CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
Knowing CPR and where the nearest defibrillator is, as well as being able to use it, is vital, and could be the difference as to whether someone survives or not. With a cardiac arrest, time is so important.
Defibrillators will be sited outside Bude Road Garage, HATS Theatre, Holsworthy Football Club, Royal Mail Sorting Office and The White Hart Hotel.
