IT was spook central in Camelford in celebration of Halloween, with multiple pumpkins being seen on parade at the town’s library.
In an event organised by the town council, the youth of the town were brought together in what has become something of an annual tradition.
The atmosphere at the event was every bit as spooky as Halloween itself, with the visit to the event by many ghouls, ghosts, witches and wizards all nervously waiting for their artistic efforts with a pumpkin to be scrupulously assessed by a panel of judges, comprising of the mayor of Camelford and a member of staff at the town council, in order to find a winner.
This had followed an hour of Halloween themed games, craft and music setting the mood for the special occasion, as well as, appropriately, Halloween book reading where the youngsters were told scary stories in the appropriate fashion.
A spokesperson for Camelford Town Council said: 'On Wednesday, October 30, Camelford Town Council held its annual 'Pumpkins on Parade' event in the library: bringing together many of the younger people in the area to celebrate Halloween in style!
The atmosphere was certainly spooky, with many ghouls, ghosts, witches and wizards (and even the Joker!) in attendance! After an hour of Halloween themed games, crafts and music, it was time for the big event: Pumpkin judging! The town mayor, along with a member of the council staff, deliberated for a while over the winner amongst the 20 plus pumpkins on show, until a winner was finally announced. Those who carved the best three pumpkins were all presented with prizes, along with the winners of the best dressed boy, best dressed girl, and 'pin the spider on the web' game.
“Camelford Town Council would like to thank all those who attended, along with those who helped on the night and those who provided prizes and other goodies for the event. The team are already looking forward to the event next year, where it is hoped to be even bigger, better and spookier!'
