AN inclusive roadshow hoping to provide an opportunity for people to try their hand at surfing is coming back to Bude.
Surfing England has announced that the North Cornwall town is among those being visited by the organisation’s Para Surfing Road Show.
After welcoming 70 new surfers with disabilities to the sport in 2024 the programme is back for 2025. Residents are invited to join the group for a taster day where they will enjoy a session led by current Team England coaches and world championship medal winning athletes.
The event will be making its way to Bude on Saturday, July 19.
The organisation has expressed that no previous experience required and all equipment, including wetsuits, will be provided.
Marketing manager for Surfing England, Kate Ross-Smith said: “We’re honoured to be supporting such an important roadshow in the Surfing England calendar; helping people with disabilities give adaptive surfing a go and highlighting the pathway for those who want to take it further. Surfing is part of our brand DNA, and to help this side of it grow, we hope will bring smiles to a lot more faces.”
Organisers have also added that they will be doing their best to make ‘the day as accessible as possible’.
Donations of £10 will secure a spot at the sessions, with all money going towards funding the brand new para surf clubs across England which residents will be invited to join following the roadshow.
