The Mayor of Holsworthy has presented a new “Best NCO” trophy to the Holsworthy Detachment of Devon Army Cadet Force.
The trophy was first awarded in 2005 and has been sponsored by Holsworthy Town Council since.
It recognises the commitment and quality of leadership displayed by Cadet NCOs (young leaders) and is voted for by their peers.
Cadet Corporal Caitlin Braund (17) received the trophy on behalf of the detachment during a recent visit by the Mayor Cllr Helen Parker, and her consort Mr Ian Parker.
Addressing the cadets Cllr Parker said: “I am pleased to present on behalf of Holsworthy Town Council to the Holsworthy detachment of Devon Army Cadet Force, this beautiful shield in recognition of the best NCO Cadet, nominated by Cadets from the detachment.
“The army cadets give wonderful community service to Holsworthy and the Town Council are pleased to recognise this service.”
Holsworthy ACF is open to young people from 12 years of age and will be open to new recruits from Monday, April 3. To put a child on the waiting list go to Devon ACF and follow the “join as a cadet” links.
