HATHERLEIGH Silver Band recently won their section at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain West of England Regional Finals in Torquay.
As a result, they have now qualified for the National Finals to be held in Cheltenham in September.
They will play against the best 4th section bands from across the UK.
The bands musical director Matt Green always had high hopes and wanted to bring out the magic of the piece they performed to make them stand out against the other 21 bands in their section.
The bands they competed against came from as far afield as the Isle of Wight and Cheltenham.
The West of England region is the largest in the competition — with 83 bands competing in five sections.
At the competition they performed ‘The Journal of Phileas Fogg’ by Peter Graham. The piece took audiences on a musical journey around the world from London to Paris, through Russia, Spain to Vienna.
The test piece for the national finals to be held in Cheltenham was announced on April 4.
