The Cornish and Devon Post received a letter form Ian Mason, Chair of the North Kernow Community Housing, it said:

"In his letter, Nick Cole (Post, July 5) puts his finger on how UK housing policy can work against the interests of local community cohesion and sustainability."Many communities will be unaware that there are practical steps that they can take, within the existing system, to invest in their own future by providing affordable homes for their own people. Or, if they are aware, they may not know how to go about it.

"North Kernow Community Housing was set up at the end of 2022 with the aim of enabling local communities to provide affordable rented homes for people with a local connection to their parish. It is run by a board of volunteers who care passionately about this mission.

"We are now actively recruiting other volunteers, in each of the following parishes, to form teams that will be enabled to deliver that housing in their own community. Our area of benefit comprises the parishes of Morwenstow, Kilkhampton, Launcells, Bude-Stratton, Marhamchurch, Poundstock and St. Gennys.

"We invite anyone who similarly cares about housing provision in those communities, and who is ready to work with like-minded people in their parish to deliver this, to get in touch with us. As a charitable community land trust, we can access the support and funding that is available to make those plans a reality and ensure that this housing is available to the community in perpetuity.
