A RESIDENT of Launceston will be pushing his sporting ability to the limit as he hosts a 24-hour table tennis and cycle challenge.
David Thorpe from Launceston will be testing his physical prowess with the aim of raising money for charity.
On June 21, David will be taking on a 24-hour table tennis and bike ride challenge. During the 24-hor period, he will be doing around four hours of cycling and 20 hours of playing.
While this challenge might be mighty, David is no stranger to a physical test, last year he managed to raise nearly £10,000 via his 24-hour table tennis event. This year, he hopes to do the same, once again raising funds for Cornwall Air Ambulance.
Discussing his upcoming feat, David said: “It’s going to be an incredible test of endurance and determination, but with a fabulous team behind me we did it last year and everyone seem to have a great time.
“I am no great player so don’t think you have to know how to play the game or think of it as a challenge against me, it is just a bit of fun. I enjoyed the challenge last year and raised in total nearly £10,000 including street collections round North Cornwall and this year I would like to do it again.
“So, come and join me at Piper’s Pool Community Hub near Launceston and play on one of the table tennis tables with friends or against me, or have a go on the static bike.
“The Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust plays a vital role in our community, providing critical care and transportation to those in need. Their dedicated team of professionals work tirelessly to save lives and make a difference when every second counts.
“I am reaching out today with an ask - please consider supporting me in this endeavour by making a donation. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant impact on the lives of those who rely on the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust.”
