A MEDICAL centre has issued another warning to patients that it has critical staffing shortages.
Launceston Medical Centre told patients to seek alternative services for the second time this week after issuing a similar message on Monday, October 22.
It has informed patients that it has critical staffing levels covering October 24 and October 25 and thus will be extremely restricted in its capacity to serve patients.
Patients are being asked to use the LIVI GP video service, pharmacists or the minor injuries unit, despite the latter unit being closed today, October 24, with a spokesperson for Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust stating: “Launceston Minor Injury Unit is closed today (Thursday, October 24).”
It is the latest issue to plague the troubled provision of medical facilities in the town, coming just a week after a resolution was found amid the withdrawal of acceptance of non electronic prescriptions by Tesco pharmacy.
A spokesperson for the medical centre said: “Due to critical staffing levels today and tomorrow (October 24 and October 25), Launceston Medical Centre have very limited capacity. If your need is not urgent, please contact us another day.
“There are other services available that may be of use to you, such as, LIVI GP service, local pharmacists, MECS (minor eye conditions service) or MIU (minor injuries unit). Thank you for your understanding.”
