THE college in Launceston has been ranked number one in Cornwall, and Devon, for student A Level progress.
Following the release of new data by the Department for Education (DfE), it has been revealed, following the ratification of A Level marks from Summer 2024, that Launceston College ranks first in Cornwall and in the top 20 nationally for A Level progress.
The college has been provided a well above average progress score by the DfE, which tells you how much progress students who studied A levels at the college made between the end of Year 11 and the end of their A Level studies, compared to similar students across England.
The scores are calculated by comparing the A Level results of students at the college with the A Level results of students across England who started with similar results at the end of Year 11. Launceston College is ranked 18th in the whole of England based on their progress score for A Level achievement.
Launceston College A Level students celebrated a 100 per cent pass rate back in August with 34 per cent of passes an A* or A and 70 per cent of passes being an A* to B. Leavers went on to a range of destinations from the University of Oxford, to taking up coveted degree apprenticeships at companies like Babcock International.
Launceston College relaunched its post 16 offer with a new name and slogan this academic year.
Mr Matthew Thompson, principal at Launceston College said: "We are incredibly proud of our students and their outstanding achievements. This recognition highlights the dedication and hard work of both students and staff at Launceston College.
“Our focus on providing exceptional academic and pastoral support has clearly paid off, and we look forward to seeing our students continue to succeed in their future endeavours."
