Heavenly voices rang out at a Launceston care home as the community came together to celebrate the festive season with a carol concert.

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Kernow House care home, in Launceston, got in the Christmas spirit by inviting the town’s mayor Cllr Helen Bailey and the consort to the mayor Adrian Bailey. Rev Mary Williamson and Bill Roberts, who deliver monthly dementia friendly church services at Kernow House, also came and joined in with a carol concert to sing some festive Christmas favourites.  The singing was led by Ruth Dymond, who comes to Kernow House every month.

There was mulled wine and mince pies to get everyone feeling festive and the rooms were decorated with fresh wreaths and LED candles.

General Manager, Leigh Stanley said: “We are so lucky to have such a fantastic community here at Kernow House. Singing Christmas carols is such a lovely tradition, I’m so glad we could invite our friends to come and join in us.”

She added: “Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.”
