HOLSWORTHY came out in force to commemorate the sacrifices of the residents of the town past who gave their lives for the freedom of those who live in the present.
In a powerful ceremony led by the town’s mayor, Cllr Nigel Kenneally, a large crowd of people watched as guests, veterans and representatives of the community came together for Remembrance Sunday.
It began with an assembly of the parade at 2.30pm in the afternoon on Sunday, November 10, the last Sunday before Armistice Day.
Crowds watched as the parade left the Square, so often the centre for important events in Holsworthy, before going along Fore Street and finally arriving at St Peter’s and St Paul’s Church for a Remembrance Sunday church service.
After this, the wreath laying ceremony involving the laying of floral tributes commenced, organised by the town’s Royal British Legion branch commenced, before a final return to the square for dismissal.
