Members of Holsworthy Youth Club said their goodbyes to one of the group’s longest serving volunteers.

Staff and young people at the club gathered together to say a fond farewell to long serving volunteer Jacky Allen, who hung up her apron at the end of term in July.

Jacky has been a familiar face to all for many years, serving and cooking tasty hot snacks and meals for young people during the youth club sessions.

A spokesperson for the club explained: “Jacky has decided the time is now right to have a well earned rest, though her legendary burgers and cheesy chips will be greatly missed.

“This means a slight change food wise now at the club- there will be a tuck shop available during sessions selling drinks and snack but will also now be a focus on young people learning to cook and make simple dishes for themselves. This will be done with full support and guidance from the youth work team.”

The youth club will be open over the summer on the following Tuesdays from 12.30pm to 3pm: July 30, August 6, 20 and 27. Sessions are for current Year 6 leavers up to age 19.
