FIRE crews are working to tackle a fire at a commercial building in Bude.
At 3.35am, numerous 999 calls were made to Critical Control, reporting a commercial building fire in Bude. Following the calls, two appliances from Bude were immediately mobilised, along with a whole time officer for support. Upon arrival, the first attending appliance requested further assistance from a further two appliances which were mobilised from Holsworthy and Hartland. Firefighters on scene reported a kitchen area well alight and, donning breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet and safety jet to begin extinguishing the blaze. Shortly after, a further two appliances were requested from the incident commander, which were mobilised from Delabole and Launceston. In total, there are now six appliances, two whole time officers, an ‘Incident Command Unit’ from Launceston and a Welfare Support Vehicle from Torpoint. It is reported that the incident is still ongoing.
A spokesperson from Cornwall Fire and Rescue explained: “Crews are making good progress and remain on scene at this time.”
