Since it began 23 years ago, the Holsworthy Vintage Vehicle and Steam Rally has raised £50,000 for local charities and organisations and on October 14 at the White Hart, Holsworthy, representatives of seven good causes were invited by the committee to receive a further £4,850. Introduced by Rally President, Alan Jones, the Portreeve, Russell Dymond, who has himself had a long association with the Rally, made the presentations. The organisations to benefit this year are: Macmillan Cancer Support (£2,000); North Devon Hospice (£1,000); the Scouts and Guides Headquarters (£300); the Good Neighbours Luncheon Club (£300); Special Educational Needs at Holsworthy Community College (£300); Abbeyfield — Densham Court (£300); St John Ambulance (£450) and Holsworthy Fire and Rescue (£200).
