THE Holsworthy detachment of the Army Cadet Force held its 2016 Christmas dinner and presentation evening on Monday, December 19.
Held at the Holsworthy Golf Club, cadets past and present came together, along with the detachment instructors and special guests including The Commandant of Devon ACF Colonel Ashley Fulford, Cllr John Allen and Holsworthy Royal British Legion president Mr John Francis.
Former corporal Adam Isaac presented the ‘2016 Best Cadet on Exercise’ trophy to cadet Sophia Brown. Voted ‘2016 Best NCO’ by his peers, Cpl Zak Loader received the ‘Holsworthy Town Council Best NCO’ trophy from Cllr John Allen. Former cadet Sjt Summer and Cpl Lianne Seager received commendation from St John Ambulance Service for their actions during the 2015 royal visit from Colonel Ashley Fulford. LCpl Tilly Daniel and cadets Tim Cottier, David Kirby, William Hart and Matthew Woodward received their ‘1 star’ certification. LCpl Hope Wood received her ‘2 star’ certifications and Serjeant Jack Heal received his ‘senior 4 star’ certification and ‘first aid at work’ certificate.
Also on the night there was promotion for Cpl Ella Hughes to Serjeant, cadet Izzie May received her air rifle shooting pass badge and LCpl Kieran Fraser presented detachment commander 2Lt Jim Harvey with a new ‘Best Cadet’ trophy in memory of his grandfather Malcolm Fraser, who encouraged Kieran to join the ACF
Other awards were as follows: LCpl Tilly Daniel — ‘Best Uniform and Turnout’; Cadet Izzie May — ‘Best Recruit’; Ben McKenzie — ‘Best Cadet’.
