THIS December, Torridge District Council is supporting Small Business Saturday, which aims to highlight small business success and encourage consumers to 'shop local' and support local shops, restaurants, and other Torridge businesses.

The festive season is an important trading period businesses and Torridge is in the lucky position of having many high quality and unique independent retailers right on its doorstep. To help support local businesses town councils, supported by Torridge District Council, are providing a number of free parking days across its car parks.

In Holsworthy, all Torridge District Council car parks will be free for the public in the town on Saturday, December 14.

There will be free parking days in Bideford on December 14 and 21 and Torrington on December 7, 14 and 21.

Councillor Ken James, Leader of Torridge District Council said: "Where we choose to spend our money matters and can end up making a real difference. By opting to shop locally and use small businesses, we can all contribute towards a more vibrant and diverse economy that promotes not only a more sustainable lifestyle but contributes towards a community-focused economy. A win-win for both consumers and business owners."
