POLICE have launched an investigation after an assault at a young farmers’ event saw a teenager taken to hospital with a fractured skull.

Officers were called to reports of an incident at the carnival after party which was being held at Holsworthy Memorial Hall in the early hours of Sunday, November 17.

A 34-year-old man from Ashwater was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, with police keen to speak to anyone who directly witnessed the event and have not yet spoken to them.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police are appealing for eyewitnesses following an assault in Holsworthy.

“Officers were called at around 1.15am on Sunday, November 17 to a young farmers’ event at the Holsworthy Memorial Hall.

“It was reported that an assault had occurred which resulted in a 19-year-old man being knocked unconscious. He was taken to hospital and treated for a fractured skull.

“A 34-year-old man from Ashwater was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

“Investigating officers are keen to speak to anybody present who directly witnessed the incident, who has not yet spoken to police.
