SUPPORTING Rural Independent Living (SRIL) have a number of events in Halwill in the coming months, designed to get people out and about who are affected by memory loss.
The ‘Forget-Me-Not Friends’ will be holding drop-in sessions in Halwill Baptist Hall, Halwill Junction, every third Thursday of every month from 3pm to 5pm.
They provide tea, cakes and a friendly atmosphere for those wishing to socialise for an hour or two. All are welcome — especially those who are affected by memory loss.
The café provides a stimulating, interactive and engaging number of activities, which include games, reminiscence, music sessions, quizzes, information talks, relaxation sessions and just an opportunity to chat.
They also hold a ‘Carer Support Group’ at the same time in the Sunday School Room. These can offer carers a chance to gain peer support from others who are in similar situations.
The first café session and carer’s support group meetings of 2017 will be held on January 19, with the next sessions being on February 16, March 16 and April 13.
