The event, which drew a large crowd, celebrated the pool’s ambition to become England's only venue where couples can get married while immersed in sea water.

The ceremony was led by local celebrant Jac Wills, whose heartfelt words resonated with attendees pledging their commitment to someone or something special. The atmosphere was filled with joy and celebration, further enhanced by live music from Mark Rosser with a romantic swing set and Paul Roberts, the former frontman of The Stranglers.

One of the day's standout moments was the presence of Rob McPaddling with his impressive MegaSUP. This enormous stand-up paddleboard played a central role in the event, serving as a striking backdrop for photos, providing pool tours, and even acting as the platform for the ceremony itself.

The weather was on everyone’s side, with clear skies and calm winds that allowed the festivities to proceed without a hitch. Visitors enjoyed the sunshine and the vibrant atmosphere, with many taking a dip in the pool or participating in the various activities organised around the ceremony.

All funds raised during the event will go towards securing a wedding licence for Bude Sea Pool, paving the way for it to become a truly unique wedding venue. Once licensed, the pool will offer couples the chance to say "I do" in, on, or around this iconic structure. A spokesperson from the venue added: “Bude Sea Pool holds a special place in the hearts of many, having been the site of numerous proposals over the years, including one during Sunday’s event. With the growing interest from couples looking for a distinctive location to tie the knot, the pool’s transition to a licensed wedding venue is sure to be a success.

“The pool will stay open to the public during ceremonies, giving couples the unique option to expand their guest lists with spontaneous attendees or opt for a quieter time for a more relaxed atmosphere.
