A POPULAR local bus stop will no longer be used by a number of services following safety concerns.

Go Cornwall Bus has announced that eight of Launceston’s bus services will no longer be dropping off or picking up passengers from the town’s Tesco supermarket.

Users of the transport were met with a message from the provider stating that the 78, 78A, 97, 220, 223, 371, 425, and 426, would no longer be using the stop from today (November 4).

It comes following some safety concerns in the area.

A spokesperson from Go Cornwall Bus explained: “The issue is that there is a new, very well used parcel drop off / pick up locker unit been installed right next to the bus bay outside the store. The bus bay is being used by delivery vans and customers cars who are using the facility.

“This means that it is currently not deemed safe for the bus to use.”

Those who use the stop will now be expected to use another stop nearby.

The spokesperson continued: “The nearest stops are on Tavistock Road next to the entrance of the store or Hurdon Road a short walk across the zebra crossing.“
