ELECTRIC vehicle chargers are set to come to a Bude service station after plans submitted to Cornwall Council were approved by the planning department.

Motor Fuels Group, also known as MFG has been unveiling plans for its sites across the Duchy since taking over the operation of the Morrisons branded fuel stations adjacent to the supermarket giant’s stores.

The Bude store is located on Stucley Road, Stratton.

Sixteen parking bays outside the Bude store in Morrisons are set to be removed in order to facilitate the installation of six Alpitronic rapid electric charging points.

Bude-Stratton Town Council said in response to the consultation: “Bude-Stratton Town Council (BSTC) had no objection to the creation of a charging zone subject to the canopy being mono pitched and PV solar panels being added to the canopy.”

A member of the public also stated support for the electric vehicle chargers.

Mr Nick Bull said he supported the application, adding: “Great news for Bude which is lagging behind other local towns in provision EV charging infrastructure. I've lost count of the number of visitors who take to local social media in an attempt to locate chargers only to be disappointed and unable to recharge their cars, and ultimately those people will consider holidaying elsewhere should the situation not improve.”

The plans were approved by Cornwall Council without the additional condition requested by BSTC.
