A silhouette looking out over Bude is looking more and more familiar as the town’s Compass Point Project edges closer to completion.
This week, a figure which has been missing from the Bude skyline finally returned as a major milestone is reached in the relocation of the iconic Storm Tower.
Over the last year, work has been undertaken to precisely dismantle the tower before building blocks were slowly reassembled in the towers new home, some 200 metres further from the cliff edge.
Each block was meticulously labelled and mapped during disassembly, allowing the team to rebuild back into their original positions.
With the recent announcement that the tower’s roof had been reinstated, things are looking more and more familiar.
However, this week scaffolding surrounding the structure has been removed today, revealing the Pepper Pot in all its glory.
A spokesperson from Bude-Stratton Town Council explained: “This marks another significant milestone as the major reconstruction works are complete. There are still ground works to do – but we’re nearly there!
“Keep your eyes peeled for a big announcement coming soon…”
