THERE was a sea of cheery faces in St Teath recently as the masses turned out to enjoy a day of community fun and spirit, as part of the annual village show.
Each year, local residents and visitors from further afield turn out to show their best creations, from home grown vegetables and creative flower displays, to their Masterchef worthy culinary creations.
This year, people were out in force, with more than 570 entries submitted, making it close to the show’s record!
Residents wowed judges, giving them plenty to consider, despite the less than ideal weather conditions the South West has experienced this summer - if you can even call it that.
Kevin Hargrave, chairman of the show said: “The people of St Teath have pulled it off again, despite the horrendous summer we have all had they have produced some of the finest Fruit, Vegetables and Flowers not to mention the Arts and crafts for this years Village Show.
“The largest section was the fruit and vegetables which there were 150 entries then the cut flowers section of which there were over 100 entries.
“Overall there were just over 570 entries almost a new record to make it one of the best shows yet. My thanks go out to our dedicated committee, the Judges, stewards and volunteers, this years President Bob Fox but mostly to the people of St Teath never fail to amaze me.
“Well done everyone!”
With 2024’s show wrapped up, many overjoyed attendees walked away with a coveted rosette - or even a trophy in some cases - now delicately positioned in pride-of-place on the mantel, all thoughts are now looking ahead to 2025, where residents hope to outperform themselves, clinching a podium position and of making next year’s show the best that has ever been seen.
