LAUNCESTON’S fire fighters prevented fire from spreading after gorse caught alight in North Cornwall.
At around 9.42pm on February 17, one appliance from Launceston Community Fire Station was mobilised to Laneast following reports of gorse fires spreading in an area of moorland.

A spokesperson from the crew said: “On arrival we confirmed a reasonable fire spreading across the area of moorland.
“Using beaters and napsack sprayer, crews soon extinguished the fires and prevented further spread.”
With the blaze prevented from spreading any further, the crew returned to base, though they did request some extra equipment should the fire happen again in future.
A spokesperson concluded: “Marshmallows required next time.”
