A NUMBER of firearms have been seized from a property in Bude after a man was arrested.

Residents in Bude and Stratton experienced heavy traffic and delays last night (October 29) after police attended reports of concern for a man in a property, who had made threats to harm himself.

Local units and armed police officers were called to the scene where they carried out a number of enquiries in the area. Searches of a premises were made and weapons were seized.

As a result, a 43-year-old man from Bude has been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of firearms with intent to cause fear of violence.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson confirmed: “Police were called to Bude last night following reports of concern for a man in a property, who had made threats to harm himself.

“Local units and armed police officers carried out a number of enquiries in the area. Searches of a premises were made and weapons were seized.

“A 43-year-old man from Bude has been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of firearms with intent to cause fear of violence.”

The individual remains in police custody at this time.
