A NORTH Cornwall town council has issued a warning after it was reported that people have been damaging one of its town’s historic buildings.
After a spate of incidents which have seen individuals accessing and causing damage to the roof at The Castle Heritage Centre, Bude-Stratton Town Council has warned that it will involve the police if the behaviour continues.
The council has said that there have been repeated incidents where people have made their way onto the building’s roof at night.
A spokesperson from Bude-Stratton Town Council Said: “Bude-Stratton Town Council is aware of repeated incidents where individuals have accessed the roof of The Castle after hours, causing damage to the property.
“This reckless behaviour not only incurs unnecessary costs but also creates significant safety hazards.
“The council is working promptly to implement measures to prevent further incidents.”
The body has also warned that any further incidents will be reported to the police.
The spokesperson continued: “Should this behaviour persist, it will be reported to the police for further investigation. We encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in ensuring the safety of their children, especially during evening hours, as climbing on the roof is both dangerous and irresponsible. The council is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all members of the community.”
