AS EXPECTED, Storm Bert put pay to the majority of the football and rugby over the weekend.

On the football front, Bude Town, Camelford, Holsworthy and Launceston all saw matches called off in SWPL Premier West as only a handful of games survived in the St Piran League.

Boscastle produced a superb display to see off visiting St Stephen 4-1 in Division One East.

A four-goal cameo in just 25 minutes got the job done with Jordan Blanchard (55), Josh Insley and James Bosley (68 and 80) all on target despite keeper Nick Lawson being sent off 16 minutes from time for a trip.

Division One East promotion hopefuls St Teath advanced in the George Evely Cup after an extra-time 2-1 success at league rivals Kilkhampton.

The away scorers were Leighton Carhart and Freddie Foster.

One game survived in Division Two East as Bodmin Town won 4-0 at St Columb Major, while three went ahead in Division Three.

Boscastle Reserves drew 1-1 at St Merryn with Piran Mears on target, while North Petherwin Reserves had an afternoon to forget at home to their St Mawgan counterparts, going down 7-4.

Mada Lin Boss, Rob Oldaker, Alfie Rowland and sub Oscar Holgarth scored for Petherwin.

The Post area clubs in the North Devon and Devon and Exeter leagues were also rained off.

Rugby union wise, the first teams of both Bude and Launceston had a bye week.

Bude return to action this Saturday at Barnstaple Seconds in Counties One Western West (2.30pm), while the seconds, who saw their clash at Penryn Seconds on Saturday postponed due to Storm Bert, welcome Roseland (2.30pm).

Launceston entertain St Austell in a Regional One South West derby (3pm), while the Castles have a bye week.

Launceston Ladies saw Sunday’s home clash with Bath United called off and are next in action on December 15.
