NORTH DEVON LEAGUE AND DEVON AND EXETER LEAGUE ROUND-UP
HOLSWORTHY Reserves saw yet another game called off on Saturday in the North Devon Premier Division as their trip to Landkey Town was postponed.
The Magpies still have six games to play, the next of which is at second bottom Eastside on April 20.
Shebbear United’s hopes of avoiding finishing in the bottom three took a blow on Saturday as they were held to a 3-3 draw by second bottom Bideford Reserves.
Sheb took the lead through Hayden Nimmo’s first half volley before Jamie Sluggett’s wind-assisted corner went straight in to double the advantage.
Bideford pulled one back from the spot, but were two goals behind again when Chris Wildern slotted in.
However, Bideford, aided by some injuries in the home camp and the wind, got themselves back into the game, via an own goal.
The equaliser then came following a corner, as Shebbear were left frustrated.
Morwenstow may have had Saturday off, but they were left delighted after in-form High Bickington were surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Shamwickshire Rovers Res.
The two promotion-chasers meet on Saturday with the winners taking a big step towards promotion.
Mid-table Putford can also help both those sides this weekend when they entertain Langtree, who are one of five teams aiming for the three promotion slots.
Three games went ahead in Intermediate Two.
Mid-table Morwenstow Reserves welcomed AFC Dumnonii Reserves for their first outing since February and were thrashed 7-1.
Although prolific frontman Norman Foster scored in the first half from which they trailed 3-1, the promotion-chasing visitors added four more after the break.
Halwill had the Saturday off in the Devon and Exeter League Division Three, and the mid-table Blues will hope to get back to action this weekend when they welcome bottom side Lyme Regis Reserves (3pm).
