LAUNCESTON Road Runners held their annual awards night at the Lifton Community Centre on Saturday, February 8.

It was an opportunity to celebrate the overall achievements of the club and the individual achievements of the members who have ran in a variety of locations across the South West and further afield.

The list of winners were: Performance of the Year Award – Jeanette Johnson; Best Female Newcomer – Katie Fowler; Best Male Newcomer – Eddie Thomson; Most Improved Male – Ian Grimes; Most Improved Female – Emma James; Most Races Completed: Male – Joe Thomson; Female – Jackie Chapman; Most Multi-Terrain/Trail Races Completed: Male – Joe Thomson; Female – Linda Pickard; Committee Cup – Peter James; Members’ Member Award – Jaine Hynes; Coaches Award – Jon Kappes; Fosters Fives Most 5Ks and Five-Mile Races completed – Jackie Chapman; Pentathlon Cup (most points based on specified race distance, time age) – Angela Brinicombe.

Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards were handed out for runners that had completed either seven, six or five different distances.

Gold Award (seven different distances) – Emma James, Ann Barriball, Claire Winfield, Joe Thomson, John Barnes, Angela Brinicombe, Katie Fowler, Ian Grimes, Nick Smith and Linda Pickard.

Bronze Award (five different distances) – Jaine Hynes, Peter James, Lorraine Hawkins, Kevin Marshall (Chair), Jackie Chapman, Dave Thomson, David Starley, Eddie Thomson, Richard Foster, Mike Gilbert, Elaine Hill, Dave Pickard, Jason Shipton and Martin Venning.

Launceston’s runners have already completed two races of the 2025 Cornwall Grand Prix Race Series – the Storm Force 10 in Camborne and the Newquay 10K.

The third event is the notoriously difficult Looe 10 Miler on Sunday, March 2.
