THE annual Boxing Day rugby at Polson Bridge was held recently with a twist for 2024.

For the first time ever, there was a ladies’ fixture before the men’s match and both games were well supported.A

Reflecting on the day, club chairman, Andy Crichton, told the Post: “It was a great day with the addition of our ladies having a match before the men’s, made up of current players as well as visiting players and friends and family joining in.

“The men’s match was same format as previous years with a 9.30am meet up for pre-match port and team selection.

“Forty players turned up including 14 players with their relatives. The goal for next year is to have a full squad of family members.

“Both games were entertaining and thanks to Martyn Sandercock for refereeing both matches which saw the CABs side eventually winning by five points.

“Finally I’d like to thank all the spectators who joined us, it’s truly awesome to see so many coming down.”
