HOLDERS Holsworthy face a repeat of last year’s clash with Werrington Seconds when they head to Ladycross later in the Division Two T20 Cup quarter-final (6.15pm).

The Trees were victorious by six wickets at the same stage at Stanhope Park 12 months ago before defeating Perranporth and Helston Seconds at Redruth to secure the crown.

Ryan Walter’s men are nicely in mid-table in Division Two East with games in-hand, but face a tough test at a Werrington side that are top of the same division and looking for a return to County Division One.

Both teams won their two group games with ease, Holsworthy seeing off Tintagel and then Bude, while Werrington were paired with their Callington counterparts and South Petherwin.

Holsworthy have to do without North Devon’s Fred King, but do have Hatherleigh all-rounder Jasper Presswell for the evening, and also give a chance to young seamers Adam Lovejoy and Lewis Chidley.

The rest of the side has a familiar look to it, although veteran spinner Graham Wild who doesn’t play the T20 games could be a big miss, as will all-rounder Dan Smith.

Werrington’s side is similar to usual and will fancy their chances on home soil, particularly if key men Rob May and Tom Lyle get going with the bat.

The other quarter-finals scheduled for this evening see Division Two West leaders Perranporth tackle nearest challengers Constantine, St Just Seconds welcome their Redruth counterparts, and a local derby between St Austell Seconds and St Blazey at Wheal Eliza.
