HOLSWORTHY Reserves are out of this year’s North Devon League Premier Division Brayford Cup after suffering a penalty shootout defeat at Appledore Reserves.

Rob Pearce grabbed the Magpies’ goal in normal time with Appledore’s Robin Kearney ensuring spot-kicks at Marshford which the hosts won 4-3.

Bottom side Hartland were beaten 2-0 at mid-table AFC Dumnonii in the league.

In the Senior Division, Morwenstow were awarded three points by High Bickington after the Barnstaple-based club failed to raise a side for their trip to the Shop Playing Field.

It meant the Greens, who are without a fixture this weekend, moved to within two points of third-placed Boca Seniors Reserves, albeit having played twice more.

Fifth-placed Shebbear United’s trip to Woolsery was one of three games postponed.

The Tangerines have a home clash with AFC Dumnonii Reserves on Saturday.

There was mixed fortunes for the Post area clubs in Intermediate One.

Putford enjoyed a fine home win as they thrashed Hartland Reserves 5-0, four of which came in the first half.

The scorers were Harvey Dack (2), Will Jeremy, Will Richards and Jamie Hooper.

They then advanced in the Hutchings Cup on Sunday after beating Kilkhampton Seconds on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Harvey Dack and Olly Lang netted for Putford.

The local derby between Langtree Lions and Bradworthy ended all square at 2-2.

Matthew Coles and Matthew Ward netted for the Lions with Brad Birch and former SWPL defender Carlo Chandler netting for the visitors.

Morwenstow Reserves were beaten 3-2 at their Shamwickshire Rovers.

They trailed 2-1 at the break before eventually succumbing to defeat.

Toby Trewin and Rio Colgrave netted for the Greens although the latter was sent-off.

Holsworthy Thirds scored three away from home but were beaten 6-3 at Georgeham and Croyde Rovers.

In Devon and Exeter League Division Three, leaders Halwill saw their trip to Heavitree United postponed.
