St Piran Football League latest round-up

THE final round of fixtures of 2024 on Saturday, December 28, saw a nine-goal thriller in Premier Division East as Altarnun were edged out 5-4 by visiting Polperro, sub Jake Thomas netting an injury-time winner.

Oliver Wetherall and Toby Knights netted for the Nuns before the break and Brandon Ambrose and Wetherall’s second made it 4-4 before the late intervention.

Jacob Hobson was North Petherwin’s scorer as they were beaten 2-1 at St Austell Reserves, while Josh Chidley scored the only goal on December 21 as Launceston Reserves shocked St Mawgan 1-0.

In Division One East, Boscastle racked up the goals in a 7-3 success at St Stephen which saw Sam Haddy, James Bosley (4), Josh Insley and Jake Dickinson all on target, while St Teath and Pensilva both lost.

St Teath were level at 1-1 at leaders St Newlyn East thanks to Danny Sprake before losing 4-1, while Pensilva went down 4-2 at Newquay Reserves.

The clash between Lifton and Kilkhampton was postponed.

Bude Seconds went goal crazy in Division Two East as they put 14 past visiting St Columb Major.

A crowd of 100 saw Jago Tweitman score four while there were doubles from Aaron Hart, Ryan Hodge and Jake Woodland and solitary efforts from Andrew Furse, David Hales, Albie Newton and Ryan Vanstone.

Just one Post area club was in action in Division Three East as St Minver Reserves were beaten 3-0 by visiting Lostwithiel.

That followed up a 5-1 defeat on December 21, the same day which saw Boscastle Reserves lose 8-1 at promotion-chasing Tregony. Kieran Gill got the Castle consolation.

In Division Four East on December 28, Kilkhampton Reserves saw off visiting St Blazey Thirds 2-0, while Lifton Reserves lost 8-0 at Padstow United.

Pensilva Reserves were handed a home walkover by Gerrans and St Mawes Reserves.
